Our Mission
FACE (Foundation for Arts, Creativity and Exchange) responds to the urgent need to promote cultural development and performing arts in Sub-Saharan Africa, by actively assisting in the establishment of permanent structures and in access to reliable training and independent funding.
FACE has been set up to receive the core results from 25 years of research with the mission to devise feasible ways of implementing these results, so they may benefit the largest number of people, especially the young of Africa.
FACE is essentially a foundation ready and able to receive donations from corporations, regional organizations, sponsors and individuals in order to put substantial funding to good use by generating revenue, jobs and purposeful training to performing artists of Africa.
FACE will first and foremost revive the ACTPA project and establish a permanent school of excellence for African Performing Arts in a willing and committed host country in Africa.
This school will be known as ACE – the African Centre of Exchange.
FACE is being founded by Daniel Labonne, the researcher and performer behind the achievements of the pan-African association of artists (UAPA), the specialist school for performers (ACTPA Project), the arts and culture management agency in London (African Theatre Exchange- ATEX) and the academic study at University of London (Development Through Creativity).
FACE will encourage further exploration of this area of research and assist in the production of more books (both pedagogical and fictional), lectures or conferences, documentaries and other audio-visual products.
FACE will receive a percentage from the sales of the book EMPOWERING THE PERFORMER.
